An oil & gas major built one risk repository for market, credit, and Dodd-Frank compliance.
Market risk, credit risk, and Dodd-Frank compliance lived in different places and rarely agreed. We led the design and delivery of a single risk data warehouse — one repository, one set of numbers the desk and the regulators both rely on.
Challenge
The business needed one central repository serving market risk, credit risk, and Dodd-Frank compliance at once — spanning crude-mix efficiency analytics and short-, mid-, and long-term power position and price forecasts — without the numbers disagreeing across risk, finance, and regulatory disclosures.
Approach
As solutions architect we led the team through design, development, and go-live of a risk data warehouse built as one repository for market risk, credit risk, and regulatory reporting — so compliance, risk, and finance drew from the same forecasts and the same position and price data rather than reconciling three versions.
Technology
A central risk data warehouse spanning crude-mix efficiency analytics, short/mid/ long-term power position and price forecasts, market and credit risk, and financial reporting and disclosures.
Outcome
Market risk, credit risk, and Dodd-Frank compliance ran off one repository and one set of numbers — the regulatory reporting and disclosures the business owes tie back to the same forecasts the desk uses, instead of being reconstructed separately each reporting cycle.
